Getting Started
Begin by first educating yourself in the foundational ideas of Agile and Lean. The Methodologies section of this site can help.
If there is one book you'll read, start with Implementing Lean Software Development, by Mary and Tom Poppendieck.
Our one-day "Intro to Agile" course can give you a chance to experience what a real Agile project is like (refer to Services). The more you know to start with, the more you will benefit from this course.
How to Apply Agile Methodologies?
The best guide to how to apply agile techniques comes from Lean Thinking in the form of Value Stream Mapping. This is nothing more than taking a look at what you do that your customers pay you for. It means understanding what you do that carries customer value, and how fast you are able to deliver that value.
What Does a Coaching Engagement Look Like?
There are three main phases:
- Pilot - One or more teams demonstrate that Lean-Agile can work here.
- Established - Organisational changes are made to better support agile teams.
- Optimising - Executives "steer" by understanding value creation, not just cost avoidance.
